Readfield, Kennebec County, Maine was originally incorporated in 1771 as part of Winthrop. Twenty years later residents voted almost unanimously to separate from Winthrop, and Readfield became incorporated on March 11, 1791. BOYD, Samuel U.S. Census Winthrop 1-0-1-0-0

Samuel Boyd was born in Bristol, ME in 1753. He was a resident of Winthrop when he enlisted in  the American Revolution, a drummer in Captain Blunt's Co. He later resided in Palermo, ME and died in 1838.
